An EMBO (European Molecular Biology Organisation) workshop. Plants feed us, produce the air we breathe and form and support our environment. In a world faced with a growing population and climatic change, the importance of understanding the fundamental processes used by plants to maintain and repair their genomes is of ever increasing importance and urgency. These processes also underlie both conventional plant breeding for agronomy and the development of innovative technologies to be applied to new plant varieties in the future.
