Human Resources strategy for researchers

The search for excellence in the HR strategy for researchers

official logo
INRA has received an official acknowledgement from the European Commission for excellence in human resource management for researchers. INRA is the first French institution to receive this official acknowledgement and to be entitled to use the logo "HR Excellence in Research". As the leading agricultural research agency in Europe, INRA has placed construction of the European Research Area, and its own attractiveness to young researchers, amongst its highest priorities. For this reason, since 2006 INRA has adhered to the European Charter for Researchers and is committed to efforts to ensure the sustained enhancement of its Human Resources policies.

Overall, this approach is indicative of INRA's commitment to an ambitious Human Resources policy that will be further reinforced during the coming years, particularly in terms of the openness of its recruitment and career development, social policies and the research environment.

INRA Charter for doctoral candidates and postdoctoral fellows

The Institute has drawn up its own Charter for doctoral candidates and postdoctoral fellows.  As the first concrete evidence of its commitment to the European Charter for Researchers, this document is designed to specify the conditions for the hosting and integration of doctoral candidates and postdoctoral fellows within INRA in terms of their recruitment, positioning in host units and training, and the publication and valorisation of research results.

Sustained efforts regarding improvements

INRA has always tried to address its practices from the broadest possible standpoint.  Thus the Institute was the instigator of discussions with an inter-EPST (public scientific and technology establishment) working group (CNRS, INRA, INSERM) which gave rise to a detailed analysis of the convergences and deviations that may exist between the requirements of the European Charter and the practices that exist in-house, and has thus enabled the definition of areas for progress during the next few years, and a plan for their implementation.

Tracking indicators

This approach will be followed by a two-yearly self-assessment, combined with a four-yearly external assessment.  In this context, some tracking indicators have been defined with respect to INRA's Human Resources policy on researchers.
