Financing: Ministry of Research, Ministry of Education. Annual financing for short missions and assignments (less than a month). The projects must be innovative, involving young scientists. The projects must lead to applicable results or to the mounting of a consortium or European or international networks: They must be registered by each of the partners. Certain programmes, considering the prospects of research in a European framework or potential applications in industry, may allow, in particular instances, the financing of a third year (one year for Norway).

ECO-NET Programme
Countries involved: Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Albania, FYR Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Uzbekistan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Ukraine.
Financing: Funding is provided on an annual basis for one or two consecutive years. The programme supports regional initiatives involving at least two entities from two eligible countries. Strictly bilateral initiatives are thus excluded. Two types of initiatives: Research and technological development projects which aim to generate scientific knowledge with a specific objective; initiatives to support the networking and coordination of research and innovation activities.

Network Research Programme
Countries involved: Germany, China and Morocco; an agreement with Brazil is underway.
Origin and conditions: Ministry of Foreign Affairs: The programme promotes the development of scientific and technological cooperation of excellence between research teams. It aims to strengthen scientific partnerships through the setting up of thematic research networks.
The thematic research networks are established with two to three partner research teams for each country (an average of four to six teams per network). Each research project in a network is to be coordinated by two directors from each country involved. In France, the applications must be delivered to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the international relations departments of French research organisations, which commit to co-financing the projects. Applications directly submitted by research teams will not be eligible.

Erasmus Mundus Programme
Countries involved: EU (27), candidates countries, third countries.
Origin and conditions: The Erasmus Mundus programme is a co-operation and mobility programme in the field of higher education which promotes the European Union as a centre of excellence in learning around the world. It supports European top-quality Masters Courses and enhances the visibility and attractiveness of European higher education in third countries. It also provides EU-funded scholarships for third country nationals participating in these Masters Courses, as well as scholarships for EU-nationals studying at Partner universities throughout the world.
