Russia and the NEI

Collaboration with the Newly Independent States almost exclusively involves Russia, together with a few contacts in Ukraine, Moldova and Azerbaijan.

Russia and the Newly Independent States

Cooperation with Russia has been focused on the joint management of plant genetic resources begun in 2001 with the Vavilov Research Institute (VIR) in Saint Petersburg, which is attached to the Russian academy of agricultural sciences. A delegation of seven VIR researchers was invited to INRA from 23 to 26 November 2004, in the cities of Clermont-Ferrand, Avignon and Montpellier. A second conference organised during the same visit resulted in the review of three years of collaboration and the drawing up of a new agenda for three further years in the areas of wheat, high-protein peas, Solanaceae (tomatoes-aubergines) and sunflowers.

Collaboration with the Universities of Moscow and Kazan has been successful with respect to co-publication and filing of patents.

Joint work was begun in 2004 in the area of poultry reproduction physiology.
