China is one of the major emerging countries with which INRA is developing large-scale scientific cooperation. A joint laboratory known as LABIOCEM, Laboratory for the Biology of Embryonic Cells of Mammalians, was set up and inaugurated by Marion Guillou, President of INRA and Professor Lu Yongxiang, President of the Academy of Sciences of China (CAS) in November 2005.
Following on from the first symposium held in Beijing in April 2007 on stem cells and regenerative medicine, this second symposium was devoted to developmental biology and stem cells. It was held on the 8th and 9th of September 2008 at the INRA Research Centre of Jouy-en-Josas. On this occasion, INSERM became an official partner of LABIOCEM in the presence of the Chinese Ambassador to France, M. Kong Quan, thus confirming the scope and dynamism of this scientific cooperation.

Mr Kong Quan, Chinese Ambassador to France, Mrs Marion Guillou, President of INRA and Mr Thierry Damerval, Deputy Director General of INSERM.
