INRA’s research facilities have a number of particularities, including:
- a strong presence in French regions and influence on their policies thanks to its 20 regional centres;
- a solid relationship with the scientific community and higher education institutions, with over half of all INRA research units being jointly run with other organisations;
- a policy of international openness, which is reflected in significant participation in European projects, partnerships with foreign scientific organisations and involvement in European and international networks and joint laboratories;
- unique experimental facilities that are available to the scientific community, including experimental farms for agricultural plants and farm animals, as well as technical platforms;
- scientific tools and resources that are available to the research community: collections of genes and genetic resources, software and databases;
- active partnerships with the public authorities, the agricultural sector and rural community and the companies that play a role in INRA’s research programmes and facilities.
