Lactic Acid Bacteria and Opportunistic Pathogens Lab

The Lactic Acid Bacteria and Opportunistic Pathogens Research Laboratory is situated at INRA's Research Centre in Jouy-en-Josas. It is part of INRA's Microbiology and the Food Chain Division. Its objectives are to identify factors favoring adaptation, establishment and spread of opportunistic pathogens and lactic acid bacteria in diary products and in vivo. The Lab studies bacterial species belonging to the group of Gram-positive bacteria with a low GC content, including Lactococcus lactis (used in food fermentations), Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus agalactiae (present as commensal bacteria and opportunistic pathogens).
