Platforms and pilot plant facilities

Between 2006 and 2009, the modernisation of INRA's experimental facilities, unique in Europe, and the investment in heavy-duty research equipment, has made it possible to set up nation-wide platforms and pilot plant facilities open to the scientific community which can be adapted to meet the requirements of modern investigation.

INRA has set up or participated in several platforms or pilot plant facilities open to the scientific community which make it possible to share heavy-duty research equipment between several sites and organisations. Some of these platforms and facilities operate as a network.

18 strategic platforms

In 2008 and 2009, 18 collective INRA tools were labelled “Strategic Platforms" by INRA management after evaluation by the National Commission of Joint Tools (CNOC) which supervises the coherence of the Institute's large instruments. This label, valid until 2012, enables the platforms concerned to receive financial support for maintenance costs beyond the work programme.
In 2009, nine new INRA platforms obtained national recognition via the "IBiSA" (Infrastructures in Biology, Health and Agronomy).
